The Cowley College Baseball Summer Prospect Camp, an opportunity for high school students to display their abilities in front of invited scouts and college coaches, will be held on Monday, June 9, at the Tiger Baseball Field in Arkansas City.

Running into top-seed Johnson County for the second time in three days, the fifth-seeded Cowley College baseball team could not replicate another winning formula on Saturday in the semifinals of the District Plains Tournament held at Wichita State University’s Eck Stadium at Tyler Field. The Tigers fell behind early and saw their season end with a 9-1, seven-inning loss to the Cavaliers.

Facing top-seed Johnson County in the Plains District Tournament on Thursday night at Wichita State University’s Eck Stadium, the fifth-seed Cowley College baseball team roared back from deficits of 3-0 and 5-2 to shock the No. 1-ranked Cavaliers 11-5.

Tigers drop4-3 extra-inning heartbreaker to KCK at District Tourney

In a match-up of the only two remaining unbeaten teams at the District Plains Tournament, the third-seeded Kansas City Kansas Community College Blue Devils defeated fifth-seed Cowley College 4-3 in 10 innings on Friday at Wichita State University’s Eck Stadium at Tyler Field. Kansas City advances to Saturday’s championship at 4 p.m. The Blue Devils (43-18) will earn the automatic berth to the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, CO, with a win. With a loss, they would play again on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The No. 5-seed Cowley College baseball team scored three runs in each of the first two innings of Friday’s game against the 12th-seed Dodge City Conquistadors and went on to a 10-5 victory and win of the best of three sub-regional two games to none.

Cowley College freshman Grady Hoke continued his string of strong starts on the mound by limiting 12th-seed Dodge City to four hits and one run in seven innings of an 8-2 victory over the Conquistadors in the first game of a best-of-three sub-regional played Thursday in Arkansas City.

Needing to win both games of a doubleheader against Kansas City, Kansas Community College on Saturday in Arkansas City, to finish in second place in the conference, the Cowley College baseball team got the 4-0 win they needed in the opener before losing 7-1 in the nightcap. By splitting the doubleheader, Cowley finishes in third place in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division.

Coming off being swept in a four-game series against conference champion Johnson County, the Cowley College baseball team got shut out 2-0 against Kansas City Kansas Community College in the first game of a doubleheader on Thursday in Kansas City, KS. Putting the loss behind them, the Tigers put an emphatic end to their five-game skid with a 13-2, seven-inning run-rule victory over the Blue Devils in the nightcap.

Wrapping up the final three outs of Thursday’s suspended game between Cowley and top-ranked Johnson County, the teams concluded that contest along with the final two games of the four-game series on Saturday in Overland Park, KS. The Tigers lost the suspended game 16-6 before falling 2-1 and 8-5 to get swept in the series.

Cowley pitching can’t slow down top-ranked Johnson County

Facing No. 1-ranked Johnson County in a doubleheader on Thursday in Arkansas City, the Cowley College baseball team hit seven home runs in the two games. Still, it was unable to slow down the Cavaliers' offense while losing game one 11-6 and trailing game two 16-6 when the game was halted due to inclement weather after the top of the eighth inning. Game two will be resumed on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Overland Park, KS.

With a critical four-game series against No. 1-ranked Johnson County only days away, the Cowley College baseball team got in a midweek game against No. 13-ranked Seminole State College on Tuesday in Arkansas City. The Tigers snapped the Trojans 17-game win streak with a 16-10 victory over the Trojans.

Continuing its climb up the conference standings, the Cowley College baseball team swept the final two games of a four-game doubleheader against Allen Community College by scores of 10-2 and 8-3 on Saturday in Arkansas City. The Tigers have won 19 of their past 20 conference games to move past Kansas City into second place in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division.

Getting dominant pitching from its bullpen, the Cowley College baseball team rallied to defeat Allen Community College in game two and sweep both games of a doubleheader on Thursday in Iola, KS. Cowley won the opener 15-6 before winning the nightcap 5-3.

Tigers have conference win-streak snapped in doubleheader split at Neosho

Entering Saturday’s doubleheader in Chanute, KS, riding a 14-game conference winning streak, the Cowley College baseball team suffered its first conference defeat since March 14 in an 11-1 loss to Neosho County in the first game of a doubleheader. The Tigers came alive late in game two while winning 17-4 and earning a split of the two games.
